Not interpretable: Any test has to be interpreted in proper clinical setting. Isolated values of a test are of no value and can not be interpreted in a meaningful way.

what is the difference between absolute lymphocytes and lymphocytes percent? i had a routine cbc done and noticed my absolute lymphocytes were very low but my lymphocytes percentage was in normal range. could someone explain the difference?

: Relative amount vs fraction. If an absolute total of only 6 lymphocytes were seen per count, but it was 60% 0f the 10 white cells seen it can represent a "normal" fraction. When the absolute total  is supposed to be 6,000, that makes the relative number of little importance. The fact that there are not enough present to do their job would make it a worrisome problem.

hi i am 48 years old and in my recent jelly check up report, it is noticed my lymphocytes 48 percent. this is above 40 percent normalcy. please advise?

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would have helped to have the complete test report, especially the total white cell count. 48% is not necessarily abnormal.

can lymphocytes count be lowered by severe lack of sleep and stress?  twenty years ago, the percent was at 28%.  now, it is 18%.

Lab results: Each lab provides normal-abnormal ranges  and they can really vary. Normal can be 15% on some tests or 40% on others. Discuss this w/ Dr who ordered tests. my neutrophils percent is 38.5 my lymphocytes percent is 41.6 my monocytes percent is 13.1 my eosinophils percent is 6.6 and my basophil percent is 0.2 i have had a kidney transplant april 20,2011. should this be a concern for rejection of my kidney?

: Very unlikely,
Rejection of transplanted kidney should be suspected when you feel flank pain, fever, swelling of arms &amp; legs, and decrease in urine output along with weight gain and elevated blood pressure.  Blood chemistry would show significantly elevated blood creatinine level.

my neutrophils was 76.1 percent. i did have a mild of bacteria of pneumonia on my right lower lobe lung on 9/12. i havent checked to see if test went down. can it cause lymphocytes to be 0.97 and 16.9. trying not to have anxiety?

Many causes: A low lymphocyte count can be caused by many different disorders.  These include radiation, chemotherapy, corticosteroids, starvation, aplastic anemia, some types of malignancies and infections, renal failure, collagen vascular disease, congenital immunodeficiency and abnormal lymphatic circulation.

Many: You know already that the reference ranges given for labs are set to that several percent of healthy folks fall outside on any particular test. The stresses of daily living cause the absolute lymphocyte and granulocyte counts to fluctuate wildly. If you're quite low and there's no explanation, think about asking for a HIV check.
