i have a benign lung parenchyma with fibrosis, chronic and focally acute inflammation. i previously had a pet scan that lit up two spots in my lungs.  what does this all mean?

Accepted Answer

: The lit up spots meant that these are metabolically active areas and not inert scar tissue. A pulmonologist  would have to determine the significance or nature of these active processes and advise you about treatment, if any, &amp; appropriate follow-up.

ct chest w/contrast found multiple tiny nodular densities within lung parenchyma. how serious is it. i get sob when  i bend over or do yoga exercise. ?

Accepted Answer

Possibly: These are unlikely to cause shortness of breath. Most commonly these nodules are evidence of a prior infection such as histoplasmosis, especially if you have resided in the ohio river valley, or less likely tuberculosis. These are known as granulomas. 
However, other causes are also possible. Your doctor that referred you for the scan should be able to determine if you need more tests.

took brain mri.multiple t2hypointense lesion in cerebral parenchyma.possibilty of granuloma or brain secondries..my mom hv lung cancer.is it secondary?

Probably neither: Difficult to know without seeing all the MRI sequences.  It would be helpful to know if the lesions enhance after Gadolinium contrast and if they "bloom" on susceptibility weighted sequences and if they are calcified or invisible on CT scan.  Metastatic disease would be very unlikely in a 30 year old without a known primary cancer.  My best guess would be multiple cavernous malformations.

i knew i had scars n my lungs and it shows n my xray..then i glance the comment n the radiologist assessment simple chronic bronchitis, what i do?

Lung scars: The scarring doesn't go away.  If it is an unchanged, chronic finding, possibly the radiologist just chose to not mention it on the current report.  If you are concerned, discuss it with your doctor....the radiologist could take another look and addend the original report with a comment on the scarring.

my friend had a chest xray done today report shows nonhomogenous shadowing with fibrocalcific changes seen in right upper zone of lung chronic inflammatory disease pulmonary tuberculosis please tell me what dose it means?

The X-ray suggests..: Pulmonary tuberculosis but does not say anything about whether the patient has active infection.  Symptoms suggesting activity are fever, cough, night sweats and weight loss.  Your friend needs to see a doctor and have sputum tested for the tubercle bacillus.

chest xray says lower lungs show perivascular peribronchial fibrosis consistent with chronic teacheobronchitis. nodule vs vascular confluence right lower lung, oblique comparative views would be helpful.negative chest. have no symptoms. concerning?

i have an immune system problem affected my lungs. i am on treatment with azathioprine and medrol.
my latest fbc show my mvc and leukocytes levels to be above the normal range.
i am chronically fatigued, bruise and bleed easily.

Typical side effects: While B12 deficiency cannot be ruled out, your symptoms are commonly seen as side effects to the drugs you have been taking. Azathioprine may cause macrocytosis or increased MCV, while long term steroids may cause all the other symptoms that you mentioned. Would suggest a visit with your pulmonary doc to have a thorough discussion about risks/ benefits and have meds adjusted as needed.

No: Chronic bronchitis does not normally show up on x-rays  unless it has caused fibrosis of lungs.

ekg shows pvcs. chest xr normal. what is causing chronic chest pain and sob upon exertion? pain goes into back. worse when laying flat or activity.

Accepted Answer

Unknown: PVCs don't hurt &amp; everyone has some. Normal CXR doesn't explain your pain. I see you had a stress test and EGD for eval &amp; all that was abn was your duodenum. A duodenal ulcer could cause chronic pain, even going into the back. I would pursue that. A trial of a PPI like Prilosec may provide great relief - I note that you "don't take any medicines." Perhaps you should reconsider? Gastroenterologist?

chronic chest pain. card thinks pericarditis since sle patient. she has ordered nuclear stress test. can that show evidence of pericarditis?

Accepted Answer

No: Pericarditis can be diagnosed based on history, physical exam and EKG or echocardiogram.   I believe your cardiologist is ordering the nuclear stress test to rule out cardiac ischemia as the source of your chest pain.
