Sinusitis: Most of the time, that kind of pain comes from a sinus infection. It can be acute sinusitis if it is of recent onset (less than 3 weeks), or chronic sinusitis, if it has been there for a long time. Other problems can mimic sinusitis, such as atypical migraines. In either case, you should speak to an ENT to find out the cause of the pain, and what to do to get rid of it.

Sinuses: All in the front, around your eyes, nose, above your teeth.  You have a communication back through the ears, to the bone behind the ear, the mastoid processes.  No sinuses from the respiratory tract in the back of your head.

No: When performing  endoscopy, the scope is passed in the nasal cavity and one can define any lesion here.  The nasal cavity is separated from maxilla, not by the septum but a party wall thru which a lesion must perforate to be accessible for biopsy.  A scan of the head will reveal a lesion in maxilla which is not a common one. To expose one needs to open anterior wall of maxilla by raising a flap.

Yes, it could.: Cysts in a sinus can be developmental(you wqere born with it) or as a result of sinus infections(more common). If they are small you can generally just watch them.

Oro-antral opening: This occurs when the roots of the maxillary teeth communicate with the maxillary sinus. When the tooth is removed, there is an opening between the sinus and your oral cavity. This usually heals on its own without incident. To help promote healing and to avoid repair surgery, do not blow your nose until the area is completely healed. Allow your dentist to monitor the site.

Perhaps: 'collapse' of a sinus cavity may happen from bony trauma (e.g. Frontal bone trauma or maxillary cheek trauma). 'collapse' can also mean bony contraction of a sinus cavity over time for different reasons (bony inflammation from previous infection or surgery; silent sinus syndrome, bony tumor). If there are questions, you can see an ENT for evaluation.

Lifting weights: If you clench your teeth when you are lifting weights, it is possible for you to create occlusal trauma to your teeth. When this occurs the pain can seem like it is sinus related. Best would be to check with your dentist if you have recurring dental pain or sinus related discomfort.

Not likely: Your sinuses are skin lined cavities in your skull at several different paired sites. Being enclosed in solid bones, they cannot sink in. So whatever causes your face to sink in and causes black sores on your face, it is not your sinus. See an dermatologist to determine the black sores and its cause.
