Usually hormones: Infants of either sex may have transient nipple/breast enlargement on one or both sides. It reflects maternal hormones that came in and were removed through the placenta until the cord was cut. Remaining hormones may produce this and or baby acne. Rarely if someone manipulates the breast the ducts will open allowing germs in. If it is warm/red/swollen it could be an abscess that needs treatment.

Ofcourse, YES: Yes you will be able t feed the baby, do not be afraid,  your future is bright speak to your mother, and see your doctor. Some one at your age they are benign  fibroadenomas, after confirmation with sonography. If they are, when removed will not inter fear with normal breast function.

Thoughts: Some infants of either gender may have residual estrogen effect left over from hormone mom shared with the fetus during pregnancy. One or both breasts may have a mild swelling that emerges in the weeks after birth &amp; usually subsides over time. Rarely manipulation at the site can allow germs to enter &amp; trigger an abscess, which is a good reason to leave the area alone. Discuss with her doc.

Yes: A burst of your hormones pass to your baby shortly before delivery, one of the finishing touches in preparing her lungs to breathe air when she is born. These hormones include estrogen and androgens, and can have several transient side effects. Real, mature breast tissue forms, creating firm lumps under the nipples. Some babies even leak some real milk from their breasts.

Get follow-up: At the beginning of pregnancy, you should have a breast exam.  If any lumps/bumps are found they can be imaged and less commonly, biopsied if there is concern.  If the one that was biopsied was normal, i would recommend repeat imaging (likely ultrasound) in a couple of months of that lump and the other.  Do your own exams also and if it is growing, be seen sooner.  Usually these growths are benign.

See below: It can be inflammation in your breast, called mastitis with a reactive lymphadenitis in your armpit. Check with your ob/gyn doc. You can still continue breastfeeding.

Yes: The small amount of Ibuprofen that would get into your breastmilk is safe for baby.  A heat pack and massage (even if it hurts) will help unclog the duct that is causing the lump.  If you have fever or redness of your skin over the lump you should see your doctor.

Get checked: please see your gynecologist or family doctor. It is important that you worked up in person. If there is a lump, there can be other reasons besides cancer, like  infection.
