Controlled: It can't be cured but definitely can be controlled.  If you are sure it is LPR - the best route is to find a good gastroenterologist referred by your primary care physician for further work-up and treatment.

Control, no cure: First see an ENT and/or GI doc to present them your symptoms - and after this has been diagnosed and everything else has been ruled out - the GI doc will probably give you medications, diet advice and possilbe weight loss advice to control your reflux.

Yes : An antibiotic regime has been effective in treating ulcers but not generalized reflux.

Possible: If it comes from what you eat then adjustments in your diet. If overweight ; weigth loss will help but if the lower valve (between stomach &amp; esophagus is damage or leaking then will persist. Then PPI vs fundoplication (reflux surgery) shoould be discussed. Although if mild reflux medical therapy is better

Multiple symptoms: Lpr or laryngopharyngeal reflux disease is caused by acid travelling all the way up to the throat.  Often you will feel like there is a ball in the back of the throat.  You can also experience burning, tickling, excessive mucous production, throat clearing, cough, hoarseness, and difficulty swallowing.  I see you go by "musicalmd".  You can also lose your upper range & need prolonged vocal warmup.

Possibly: LPR can certainly alter your sense of taste. It shoudl come back as LPR is treated. There are also many other causes of loss of taste -- most likely is viral. how is your sense of smell? often the two go hand in hand. If sense of smell is off, it is not LPR.

Prevent/Control LPR: Avoid foods &amp; behavior that delay stomach emptying &amp;/or relax the lower esophageal sphincter--spicy, greasy food, mints, alcohol, tobacco, chocolate, tomato-based products, caffeinated &amp; fizzy drinks, eating before bedtime. Lose weight. Elevate head of bed on blocks. Use otc acid blockers for relief (h2's: tagamet, zantac, (ranitidine) pepcid; ppi's: prilosec, prevacid,nexium). See a GI doctor if persistent.

LPR diet: By LPR, I assume you're referring to laryngopharyngeal reflux. Apples aren't mentioned in either. Nutritional value of apples doesn't really vary upon color (http://goo.gl/EAxycO) &amp; aren't acidic unless fermented.

Apples seem to be: a relatively low acid fruit and should be fine to eat if you have reflux.  Higher acid fruits include fruits from the citrus family: oranges, lemons, grapefruit. Also cranberries. Fruits, like apples and bananas, which are high in fiber are also typically well-tolerated in those with reflux. Stay well:)
