Dental care: It is important that you see a dentist and get this infection treated ASAP. You do it need insurance to see a dentist.  If cost is an issue then go to a lower cost clinic or a dental school near by.  Your local dental society can help you find a low cost clinic.  Don't wait, it will not get better on its own.

my tooth at the back has been chipping off. the top part is totally gone. so now i have a terrible pain coming from the gum and the lower gum line is red and doesn't want to be touched. it's painful even when i brush.

i my front teeth and lower teeth gums are red only. it's not caused by oral hygiene and either brushing hard. i been cleaning it a year now and its red still no matter how much i clean and floss. it has to have a different cause than oral hygiene?

Dark red swelling would suggest a collection of blood, i.e., possible hematoma or bruise, and sensation of a sharp cut suggests a history of trauma.  You need to be seen by a dental professional for further evaluation and treatment as indicated.

Need to examine: Unless you are a heavy tobacco abuser, it is not likely to be cancer, however, it is not feasible to say what the lesion may  be, without examining you. You may wish to consult your doctor.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Could be normal: depending upon complexity of extraction, blood clot is retained to stimulate bone fill for socket.  If question, see the dentist who removed the tooth for confirmation

: Is it just one area that hurts or does your entire mouth hurt? The cause of your pain needs to be determined so that appropriate treatment can be rendered. If your dentist cannot pinpoint the problem then it may be wise to see a periodontist.
