Blepharospasm/stress: Twitching of the eyelid is most commonly due to stress or dry eye, but a thyroid condition can also cause eyelid twitching or blepharospasm.

I would suggest you try artificial tear lubricants three times a day and if you are no better in a week, see a physician and have your blood drawn for thyroid tests.

A stress relief program including exercise (walking a mile per day) has also been helpful.

i have twitching in eyelids of both my eyes. mainly lower eyelid but when i rub my eyes, even the upper eyelid twitches.is this just dry eyes or more?

Twitching=IRRITATION: Muscles that twitch are telling us that for SOME REASON they feel irritated.  That could be from excessive fatigue, from metabolic disturbances, from side effects to medications, from electrolyte imbalances, from lack of certain nutritional elements in the diet, from medical conditions that AFFECT muscles in general.....so many different causes. Impossible to tell whether rubbing does it or not.

Eye twitch: In the lids there exists a muscle that is called mueller's muscle. It responds to your circulating adrenaline, whose production by the body happens in response to stress. Local conditions such as cysts, concretions (calcium deposit) may be a physical cause that may induce mueller;s muscle to twitch. To stop it eliminate the cause of it, see your eye doc (ophthalmologist), .

lysteda works well for my heavy periods. i read eyelid twitching is a serious side effect, i was unaware. what does it mean?!

Lysteda: Tranexamic acid works by inhibiting your bodies plasmin. Common adverse effects are diarrhea, hypotenison (mainly when given IV), nausea/vomiting and visual abnormalities. I am unaware of "eye twitiching" as a sign of side effect. At least I can not find this on a peer reviewed source.

See Dr. if persists: Twitching of an eyelid, which happens in normal people, is called myokymia (an involuntary, spontaneous, quivering of a few muscle cell bundles within a muscle). Myokymia starts and stops spontaneously. In the eyelids, it can last a few minutes to a few days. One should see an ophthalmologist (md eye doctor) if such symptoms persist, keep recurring, or are combined with any other symptoms.

hi, i am a 27 year old female. for the past several days i have had dull reoccurring headaches.  mostly at the temples and top of the cephal. also accompanied by a lower eyelid twitch. any idea as to what may be causing this?

Headache: You need to have a  medical eye examination by an ophthalmologist to exclude the need for glasses as a start to evaluate your symptoms.

Muscle spasm: What you describe sounds like a common condition called orbicularis oculi myokymia. It's a type of spasm in muscles around the eye. It tends to present in times of stress (no known relation to masturbation). It can cause the vision in that eye to vibrate, as well. If symptoms are severe or not resolving over time, you should see an ophthalmologist.
