with aplastic anemia, do all 3 need to be low: rbc, wbc, and platelets or if just one is low, combined with other symptoms, could that denote aplastic anemia? i will ask my dr but want more opinions please. thank you?

: At least two of the three need to be low to be labeled, aplastic anemia. There are disorders that involve any one of the cellular components being low, it is not called aplastic anemia.

Toxic Chemicals: Inhaling fumes perhaps occupationally or recreationally could do it.  Exposure to toxic chemicals.  Your hematologist will be best able to guide you.  Sometimes though these things just happen for no apparent reason.

No, they are fine: Your HGB is fine(it ranges from 13-16 grams in men).
So do not worry about it!

i have a platelet count of 583, wbc is 3.9, rbc 4.54, hgb 10.7. my iron is 24. can the low iron cause my platelets to be that high?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Iron deficiency for some reason often shoots platelets up. This is high but i've seen it before as a result of iron deficiency. It's most important that you find out why you are iron deficient and address the underlying cause.

my mom has low total wbc for 10 years. it's always around 3. though her absolutes counts of each type are normal. rbc and platelets normal. cause?

Likely no problem,,: The count may be low, but not very low and the absolute counts are normal.  The absolute counts are more important as this means there's no problem with WBC production.  It's also good that it's low as it likely means there's no infection or other illness present.  If you're still concerned you can discuss this with your doctor, but it's highly unlikely there's anything.  Best of luck.

had a dip in wbc to 3.6 first time ever. has been 4.5 for years. rbc 4.51 hemo 14.2. hemat 42.1. mcv 93.3. platelets 277 have been for years. why the low wbc all of a sudden? no symptoms. found routine bloodwork. did have covid under 50days ago?

Not too low: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, the counts are not too low. Hemoglobin is normal. WBC is slightly low but may be his normal. platelets are at the lower end of normal.

I think he's fine: There's no such thing as a perfect husband, but I don't see any problems with his blood picture. The total WBC count is actually at the low end of what I think is a reasonable reference range, and unless the neuts are very low or he's clearly sick clinically, I'd simply be thankful for good health. I trust he has other faults and that the two of you will be forbearing &amp; love one another.
