my son had slightly low neutrophil granulocytes 1,9 on 20th of march. week later he got cold, no fever. in 24th of april the test was redone but neutrophyles were again 1,9. all other blood values are normal. no other symptoms. can this be leukemia?

Unlikely: A neutrophil count of 1.9 is not critically low. If the boy does not have any other symptoms, e.g. fever, enlarged nodes, bleeding or unresolving infection, It is not leukemia. Leukemias usually have immature cells in the blood which would have been picked up in the process of counting neutrophils.

Need actual values: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without the actual values. It would be prudent to discuss the findings with your doctor.

Having said that, it would have helped to have the actual results. Why were the tests done? What symptoms do you have? Lots of things: A low WBC can be from neutritional deficiency, autoimmune diseases, hormone disorders, bone marrow failure states (aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome) and leukemias.  It can also be seen in someone who otherwise seems healthy, and may even have a normal bone marrow on biopsy (benign neutropenia).  Viral infections can cause low WBC counts too.

Not based on that!: Your neutrophil count  alone is not a sign of leukemia. In fact, i would consider your count to be so close to normal that i wouldn't worry about it. You have plenty of neutrophils to keep you healthy!  your neutrophils might just run on the lower side of normal.  If you develop fevers, severe bruising or  bleeding, or feel ill, call your doc. And always ask your doctor to explain your lab tests!

How high?: Percentages mean nothing. If your absolute granulocyte count was slightly above the reference range without abnormal forms and you feel well, it means nothing; this fluctuates and a cold shower can double it.

Do not: High mean platelet volume and low neutrophil count do not need to relate to each other and have different etiologies.

See details: Dosage adjustments are made if white counts, platelets, etc. Are too low. Whether the dose should be lowered or the drug stopped temporarily is up to the doctor treating you.
