Try looking online: Years ago, listings were available only in printed form. By the turn of the century, lists had become available online everywhere. Now, some lists are only online, and no longer printed. Local medical societies, hospitals, and insurance companies usually list doctors by name, group, insurance plan, and location. what causes low hcg levels? i ovulated a week early could that be a reason?

It depends: Hcg levels identify a pregnancy. Low levels may represent a very early pregnancy depending on how many days you are late for your expected period. You will have to have more tests to see if it doubles or not. If it decreases you had a chemical pregnancy. Talk with your OB about getting further tests to see if the pregnancy is normal.

if i have low hcg levels, does that mean i am going to have a miscarriage?

Accepted Answer

No: Hcg alone cannot tell one they are going to miscarry.  In early pregnancy the HCG should double every 2-3 days.  If it is falling, or is not rising substantially over time, it is likely that there is a problem with the pregnancy (impending or current miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy).  Once there is a visible pregnancy on ultrasound, hcgs have little value, and the ultrasound is more meaningful.

HCG: is secreted after conception and PCOS women have a lower rate of conception.

Accepted Answer

No: Hcg is produced by the placenta and is not effected by food or fluid intacke.  Test for urine or blood are very sensitive.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Beta-hcg levels do vary and there are definitely cases that fall outside the 'norm' as it were and are successful, normal pregnancies.  Slow rising betas are associated with poorer pregnancy outcomes, but it isn't a given.  Stay in close contact with your doctor and follow directions on testing and ultrasounds and you'll be fine.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

was told i miscarried on 5/15 due to low hcg levels. took a test and it's positive, as well as some symptoms. can i still be pregnant? no u/s done.

HCG: Positive pregnancy test and some symptoms may be present as the hormone levels are still a bit high although may not be enough to sustain pregnancy. You should call your doctor's office for further recommendations.

Not likely: The current tests for HCG are quite sensitive and a properly done test, after a week of missed period, will be positive, if the woman is pregnant. You may wish to see your doctor for a blood test and may be an ultrasound exam.

Eptopic: Doing nothing is a very poor choice. An untreated eptopic pregnancy can end in rupture and even death. If you have doubts get a second opinion. Hcg levels should triple every 3 days. Why did you go to er to begin with?

i've had persistant low hcg levels between 30 and 60 for the past 8 weeks, ultasound confirms no pregnancy but urine tests are also positive?

Schedule a visit: In cases like this it is important to schedule a visit with a doctor to discuss your individual circumstances. The doctor may want to simply monitor or if they are suspicious a lingering ectopic they may consider methotrexate.
