Depends on severity: If you have occasional "heart burn" you may get away with antacids. However, it would be prudent to get examined to ascertain the cause and extent of reflux as it can lead to esophageal lesions. If you are overweight, losing weight will help.

Abd pain: At this point f/u with doctor. May be  gastritis with w/o H pylori a bacteria, may be food intolerances ,gallbladder. inflammaotry bowel, rarely Whipples, Avoid fatty foods ,smoking, caffeine, alcohol spicy foods, sodas may need prevecid or ranitidine

: With that history and symptom you need to see a doctor for a complete physical exam which includes basic blood tests and a screening liver ultrasound even if the blood test results are normal.

i have low right tummy pain and yellow stool, my right ovary cannot be found on ultrasound tummy or transvaginally. could the missing ovary cause this? which imaging would be best? thanks?

: No, it only means your pain is likely not caused by the right ovary which could be absent or atrophic or hidden by adjacent structures. Your stool is yellow which is not really abnormal so I wonder why you mention it. The next imaging test depends on the physical exam and your basic lab results but I think CT of the abdomen and pelvis with oral contrast will be the next step if symptom persists.

Referred pain: Nerves leave spine and come around; all organs are innervated by nerves arising in spine, as are the abdominal wall muscles and skin overlying it all.

Lower back pain: Usually not associated with abdominal pain. You can have referred pain to the anterior part of the abdomen but you should not have internal abdominal discomfort form your disk problems.

LUQ anatomy: Anatomically, the left upper quadrant (luq) of abdomen includes: spleen, pancreatic tail, stomach, descending duodenum, splenic flexure of the colon, associated vessels. Don't forget the diaphragm, heart, and lower chest are pretty close by. The abdominal musculature, ribs, and skin can all contribute as well to localizing luq pain.

It is not common to have abdominal pain with a herniated disc, however if the disc that is herniated is a upper lumbar disc it could possibly pinch a nerve and cause referred pain to the abdomen. I would first check for other causes for abdominal pain, side effect of meds, other gastrointestinal disorder. Discuss with your md.

what could the cause be of very sharp lower-central abdominal pain and diarrhea?

Viral?: Many different things can give you those symptoms.  Diverticulitis, colitis, tumors adhesions/obstruction, ovarian cysts, less likely cancers can all give you sharp lower abdo pains.  Is anyone else sick? If this is recurrent or has lasted more than a couple days i would see a physician asap. He/she will be able to examine, take a good history, obtain images.  If severe, go to er.
