: Both of these are described as nondrowsy antihistamines but still can cause some drowsiness. At the most, taking these 2 meds on the same day may have some additive effects like drowsiness so you should be aware of this possibility if you're considering driving or operating machinery, etc.

One should be very observant for reoccurrence of any of the symptoms that were being treated. If hospitalized medications can often be tapered faster than in an outpatient setting.

Loxapine is supplied as capsules in four strengths 6.8mg = 5mg, 13.6mg = 10mg, 34.0mg = 25mg and 68.1m = 50mg.  As far as i know there is no 2mg capsule produced.

Yes: Loratadine is an antihistamine (decrease itching, runny nose)and phenylephrine is a decongestant (decrease stuffiness, congestion).  Decongestants like phenylephrine may be used for a short duration to relieve congestive symptoms. Need to monitor your blood pressure as it can cause very elevated blood pressures while on this medicine.

Typical or Atypical?: Loxapine is generally considered a typical antipsychotic indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic schizophrenia.  It was reported that this medication was more effective than other antipsychotics is treating the negative symptoms of schizophrenia.  Subsequent studies, such as cochrane database syst rev. 2007 oct 17;(4):cd001943 have shown that it is as effective but no better than others.

Sure is possible: FDA works hard to assure biocompatibilities among generics and vs. their patented counterparts. Still, individuals can and do experience differences. I assume you speak of sedation with loratadine? Many say they experience sedation even with branded Claritin (and placebo pills, BTW).
