Depends: Injured teeth may seem loose because they're cracked (split into 2pieces) and often require extraction.
If your dds said the tooth is intact, then soft diet and possibly having your dentist temporarily splint (attach the loose tooth to neighboring tight teeth) can aid in the tightening of your tooth.  Time is variable from a few weeks to several months.

is it normal for a six year olds second top molar to be loose?! it is about to come out. has 6yr molars - looks like that one could be pushing it out? has lost all front teeth and got teeth early as a baby. no trauma he can recall?

: At about the age of six children start to loose the "baby" teeth at the front of the mouth and the first permanant fromt teeth and the first molars start to errupt. The deciduous molars (baby molars) usually are lost a little later and it does sound as though they are ahead of schedule. Please see you dentist and ask them to check and advise you.

Stabilization: Teeth that are mobile as a result of trauma need to be stabilized so that they don't move. This should be accomplished by a dentist that has the proper materials and equipment. Xrays are needed prior to treatment and then again in several months to examine the root area of the tooth.

Which is loose?: Either the tooth is loose or the bracket.  If it is the tooth, it will probably tighten back up without too much trouble.  Due to the movement of braces they tend to be a little loose anyhow. Monitor for pain over the next six months.

If it is just the bracket, go have your orthodontist glue it back on.

Yes and no: Depends on the severity.  Sometimes slight mobility can be corrected with periodontal treatment, splinting, bone grafting, etc.  Unfortunately, if the mobility is more severe, there isn't much that can be done other than extraction.  If there's inadequate bone to hold the teeth securely in the mouth, they're kinda out of luck.

Periodontics & Bite: Cracks are formed from trauma. It can be from an accident or biting forces. Loose teeth are from lack of bone support (periodontal). I don't know if i understand the question exactly, because teeth can get loose without a crack and cracked teeth do not have to be loose. But which came first, the crack or the mobility? That is for your dentist to determine.

Yes.: There are so many ways to split or attach teeth together you wouldn't believe it.  And...It works more times than not.  Splinting can last for a long time too.  Likewise, if the teeth are too loose they may not be saved.  But, i know a good dentist can also splint a tooth that you hand to him. Modern dentistry is miraculous.  Earl.
