Alcohol: is very much a cause as it can lead to dehydration.  Even though you think you are drinking plenty of fluids you are not.  Do yourself a favor stop the booze, drink water.  See a nephrologist as you are at risk for chronic kidney problems.

Same as each alone: Xanax (alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine which acts about the same in the brain as alcohol.  Using the two together is like using extra alcohol or extra xanax (alprazolam).  Over time, it's easy to develop a tolerance to either...So be careful!

what are the short term and long term effects of consuming alcohol while on 200mg of zoloft (sertraline)? is 4 to 5 drinks only once in awhile okay?

Not ok.: Zoloft (sertraline) and alcohol should not be mixed per the drug manufacturer. Zoloft (sertraline) may enhance the effect of alcohol.  The combination may impact both motor skills and depressive symptoms.  Drinking four to five drinks in a sitting is not considered moderation.

i'm asian and i take pepcid (famotidine) before i drink alcohol to reduce redness/flushness. if i do this 2-3x/week for several years, are there long term effects?

Fatty liver: Alcohol affects the way the liver process fat so your liver cells get stuffed full of it. If you drink often it can make your liver get fat – reducing your consumption can help it return to its normal size. You can spend half of your life damaging your body/liver and not feel any of the effects. 
Moderation is the key with or without pepcid (famotidine).

Confusion: Mental status changes can take place. Be sure to generate a list of all meds and herbals and street drugs to distribute to all of your physicians to make sure that no medication dosing takes place without all informed.

i have been on motrin 800 and metaxalone 800 3x a day since feb. also on zantac (ranitidine) for stomach upset from m. are there any long term effects? ie: kidneys

Kidfney failure: Long term excessive use of motrin, advil, (ibuprofen) alleve , Ibuprofen etc  is associated with severe kidney damage. Do no take more than 200 mg of Ibuprofen and try to minimize intake.

Not too much effect: Alcohol rarely affects the kidneys. Lungs are not directly influenced although folks can get drunk and choke on their food or vomitus which can lead to serious lung injury

Alcohol kidney lung: Massive amount can overwhelm kidney and liver capacity to eliminate alcohol and toxic levels can kill. Kidneys otherwise filter much faster (to be simple) but main organs that suffer are brain liver heart and vascular system. Cirrhosis can occur 15-20y later, hypertension can be consequence of alcoholism, heart muscle can loose power to contract properly and enlarge then fail, arrythmia then occur.

Alcohol and kidneys: The kidneys are not involved in the metabolism of alcohol, the liver is. The kidneys excrete fluid. People who are kidney donors have one kidney and have normal renal function, so two kidneys will not change the handling of any alcohol you ingest.
