dr. treated  a sunspot with liquid nitrogen. how successful is this?  is there a chance of scarring? can i try other  remedies if this doesn't work?

Can work great . . .: Or it can leave a scar! liquid nitrogen non-selectively freeze-kills tissue, hopefully only the abnormally-pigmented ones in your "sunspot" case. Lentigos, freckles, and similar sun-induced spots can be treated with liquid n2, laser, ipl, or other methods, but should not be excised (scar). However, all of the previous techniques can leave a scar if overzealously utilized. I would use a ktp laser!

Accepted Answer

Stretch marks: No absolutely not. Cryotherapy is used to freeze off and remove raised lesions such as Actinic Keratosis or Warts. Stretch marks are atrophic scars and there is no indication for use of liquid nitrogen that is clinically proven and is evidence based.

can i pop a blister after it has been burnt off with liquid nitrogen?

Accepted Answer

Blister: The only real risks with popping a blister induced by liquid nitrogen treatment is possibly introducing bacteria that might cause an infection and possibly causing a scar.  Neither risk is very great, but are possible.  If you keep it clean, use an antibiotic ointment, it should be ok.

Normal finding: When you use cryotherapy (freezing) a wart it normally results in a blister. The damage to the wart from freezing with liquid nitrogen is similar to a heat burn. Cryotherapy works by tricking the body into creating an immune response to the virus that causes warts.

Accepted Answer

May disappear later: Any skin repair will go thru a transition period where the pigment producing cells that tone our skin surface may be slow to recover. The darker your normal skin tone the longer it may take to see full recovery. Recovery may take months but should be complete.

i had some warts frozen today with liquid nitrogen and they have gotten big painful blisters. how long will that last? will they return?

Accepted Answer

Liquid nitrogen tx: The blisters will eventually slough off in one to 3 weeks.  New skin will appear beneath the scab.  One treatment may or may not cure your warts.  Time will tell if you need another treatment later on.

i have had hpv for 6 years. i know what to look for and know liquid nitrogen is best for me. lesions are small and rarely arise (1-2 times a year). why shouldn't i purchase my own cryogun and do treatment myself? it will save thousands of $$$ for me?

: First make sure you really have persistent or recurrent genital warts. It is rare for them to continue for 6 years is rare, and there are other causes of superficial genital bumps. However, if confirmed and with a dermatologist's professional advice, maybe this would be OK. But it's not just cryogen cost:  you would also need a supply of liquid nitrogen, which itself would be very expensive.

are home liquid nitrogen products marketed as a wart removal safe to do at home? i know major brands in your local pharmacy store are selling these and marketed as being safe and effective. is this true if you follow instructions they provide? thanks?

: They are safe but may not be fully effective. You may want to check in with a physician to ensure you are actually treating a wart and not some other skin finding.

Accepted Answer

It depends on the: size of the mole,how deep it goes,how long he has to freeze it, your skin color.. The bottom line is: if it requires extensive cryo, the more likely it is to leave a scar
