i have herpes type ii. for a month now ive had tingling & burning sensation & lip quivering on my upper lip but no cold sore has appeared. ive taken valacyclovir 1 g for 14 days but has not relieved symptoms am i having an outbreak? or something else

Not herpes: To be sure you understand: HSV2 is the virus, not the disease. Genital herpes can be caused by either HSV1 or 2, but HSV2 infrequently infects the mouth -- i.e. most people with genital HSV2 never get cold sores from it. Herpes doesn&#x27;t cause &quot;tingling and burning&quot; without visible sores, and herpes outbreaks never last a whole month. And non-improvement on valacyclovir confirms it&#x27;s not herpes.

18yr old male. during the night when i lye down my head feel like it is shaking then after a while it goes then come back, my heart sometimes too feels like its quivering at the same time. i have ocd is this a symptom of it?

MAYBE... OR NOT!: Everyone needs an annual physical exam to make sure s/he physically &amp; mentally well. Exam. includes history, physical: vitals like Ht, Wt, Temp, heart rate, Blood Pressure, etc;  systemic exam: HEENT, Respiratory, Cardiovascular, GI, GU, etc; relevant needed tests e.g. blood/imaging, etc. If everything normal then we clear the patient. If you had a recent normal exam, then it is OCD.

Need sleep eval: You may need a sleep study with a seizure montage to see what the exact cause is. See a sleep specialist who is also a neurologist and will be best trained to rule out a night time seizure disorder and a myoclonic disorder. After a careful history, it is possible that the neurologist will opt for a 72 hour seizure study first. Best wishes.

my lower lip is trembling/quivering from the inside.  it is not visible.  could this be caused by stress?

Can contribute: Stress can make any movement disorder worse but is unlikely to be the sole cause.  You should seek a neurologic consultation to get a full history and physical to try to determine the cause for your symptoms. Good luck and well wishes.

: It is best to see your OB-GYN for a thorough history and physical.  This is not likely to be something dangerous, and the tuberculosis diagnosis is quite remote.  It is normal to have many questions about one's body during pregnancy.

can vistaril (hydroxyzine) cause slight quivering in the lips? i took four tabs (25mg) yesterday. wasnt able to sleep it all off now i'm tired and my face quivers.

Vistaril (hydroxyzine): Yes thats a high dose and it can have anticholinergic and antihistamine side effects and sometimes cause seizures.

Lip quivering: sounds like a nervous tic -  some people get something like this with their eye  -  happens when you are nervous or stressed.  Caffeine can sometimes aggrevate it.    Likely a benign thing but a sign that stress is getting to you.   As you mentioned rest and staying off coffee helps.  Good luck

took vistaril (hydroxyzine) 3 days ago, got little rest. now twitching and face/lip is quivering in certain spots. think i'm getting tardive dysk. help?  anxious!

Not tardive enough..: You are only 23...And td is not so commonly caused by vistaril (hydroxyzine)...Look for other causes, including anxiety (was this the cause of the vistaril (hydroxyzine) prescription), panic attack, other meds ( have you taken a stimulant for adhd?) in any case, please contact your dr, and please do not panic.

Taste: Your most prominent symptom is change is taste. That can be from a stroke, but I would expect other signs of weakness too. Other possibilities would be electrolyte problems (Na, K, Mg, Ca), tobacco abuse, Zinc deficiency, dental infection, drugs like ace inhibitor or PPI.

Numb lips: Usual cause is reduced blood flow to the lips, such as exposure to cold (drinking cold beverage), aura of a migraine attack, panic attacks, low blood sugar, or allergic reaction to food such as shell fish. If persists or reoccurs, consult your doctor.
