Dark lips: First, see PCP to make sure there&#x27;s no condition that&#x27;s resulting in your lips being unnaturally dark.  If your lips are naturally dark, &amp; other conditions have been ruled out, then consider discussing why naturally dark lips are undesirable.  In that case they may refer you to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.  Cosmetic alteration involves risk, strongly consider further counseling first.

Vaseline: Vaseline is the best lubricant, but is messy. Any of the over the counter product are good. The best treatment of them all is .....Go to the caribbean (nice humid climate, no dryness, just sunshine and fun).

Are you sure?: It would be very unusual to have shingles just on the lips, without lesions on one side of the face.  If the lesions are only on your lips, it's more likely to be herpes simplex than shingles.

Chapped lips : The tendency for most of us is to lick our lips to moisten them.  This is the first thing not to do!  try to avoid licking your lips.  You can also use the lip balm of choice.  Lipstick isn't designed usually to rehydrate lips, so stick with stuff that is.  One of the more effective is vaseline.  You just have to keep reapplying it.  Try chapstick, blistex or carmex.  There are others, too.

There may be hope!: In vitiligo, immune system disables the pigment producing cells of skin. Local injection with corticosteroids could help in some cases of vitiligo.  Michiyukoga (2006) found that in patients with vitiligo affected by an autoimmune process, local corticosteroid injections were effective. Topical  immune modulating drugs & ultraviolet light, calcineurin inhibitors (tacrolimus), have helped many.
