There may be hope!: In vitiligo, immune system disables the pigment producing cells of skin. Local injection with corticosteroids could help in some cases of vitiligo. Michiyukoga (2006) found that in patients with vitiligo affected by an autoimmune process, local corticosteroid injections were effective. Topical immune modulating drugs & ultraviolet light, calcineurin inhibitors (tacrolimus), have helped many.
