An alternative is six months smiles which uses clear brackets and a tooth color wire so they are not noticable unless very close to the person and treatment times are reduced usually being 6 months but this is recommended for esthetic changes for crowded front teeth or spaces and not issues with back teeth like tipping or rotatio.

Where there is room: Lingual  braces can be used for othodontic tooth movements in bites that have enough room for the brackets.  Any case in which the overjet of your teeth will accommodate the thickness of the braces.   Overjet is the front\back distance between your upper and lower front teeth. As opposed the the overbite which is the overlap of your teeth.

Yes: The goal of all braces is too optimize your bite, both cosmetically and functionally.  Lingual braces is one option used so that the brackets and wires are not visible, but there are some limitations with this system. The difference is..,: Ceramic braces attach to the front of your teeth just like traditional metal braces.  The difference is the brackets are made of tooth colored ceramic instead of metal. Lingual braces attach to the tongue side of your teeth.  Not everyone has enough room on the backside of their upper front teeth to fit lingual braces. Only an orthodontist can determine which will work better for you.

It might be : Difficult to keep the white strips on - i'm not that familiar with their design.  If they just stick to the facial aspect (frontside) of the teeth then i don't anticipate a problem - sensitivity maybe?  If they slip on the teeth (covering both front and back) then you might have a problem getting them to stay.

Possible: Lingual braces being places in the back of the teeth can effect speech. Since your tongue places itself in thus region when making certain sounds the braces being there can prevent the tongue from proper placement. The  tongue can also become sore. However i haven't heard of this being a major issue for ppl who want these type of braces.

how long does it take before you start noticing changes in your teeth due to lingual braces?

Depends: On your particular case. What i would do is ask the orthodontist every now and then (say once a month or so) to show you your pre braces model so you can see the change. When you are checking daily it is hard to tell if anything is happening, however i assure you it is and in the end you will be amazed.

They are metal: Lingual braces are made out of metal, usually stainless steel.  They ar invisible because that are on the insides of the teeth.  That's the upside.  Downside is that treatment takes longer, there may be some tongue irritation and/or function problems, and sometimes final detailing requires outside braces.  For all these reasons inside braces are usually more costly.

Worth Considering: This system has significant advantages over other traditional metal braces. Advantages are: reduced treatment time, need fewer adjustments and they do not require rubber bands. However, make sure your doctor is allowing you to make informed decisions.
