: Nobody ever gets these STDs in this circumstance. STD bacteria and viruses evolved to require sex itself for transmission, not merely superficial contact with the genital area. Zero risk, no worries.

Not chlamydia: The premise is wrong: Although chlamydia can infect the throat, it's uncommon; and when it happens, no symptoms occur. Even if you had a positive oral chlamydia test, it wasn't the cause of your sore throat or any other symptoms. With or without symptoms, you can certainly continue to transmit it until you have been treated.

Chlamydia : Chlamydia trachomatis is the sexually transmitted chlamydial infection that is also transmitted to a newborn infant through vaginal birth as well.  This is why babies get medication in the eyes after birth.  This is the one most people refer to when saying "chlamydia".  There are a couple of other chlamydias that most lay people are unaware of.  One is psittacosis, which is from bird droppings.

tested for chlamydia using a urine sample 14 days after unprotected intercourse and the result came back "equivocal". doc said the liklihood i am positive is minimal and to retest. any further info on the equivocal thing? thanks in advance?

: There has not been much research on interpretation of equivocal results, but probably roughly half are infected -- so despite your doctor's advice, there's a good chance your repeat test will be positive. If so, or if equivocal again, you should be treated with doxycycline. If doubt remains, consider contacting your nearest federally funded sexual health centre, for world class advice. Good luck.
