Anything: Old medical thinking is that since most kidneys stones are calcium oxalate, that you should avoid eating calcium and oxalic acid foods such as dairy and spinach respectively. This has been shown to be basically incorrect. There is more to the person who forms kidneys stones. Eat a balanced diet and don't over eat. Eat what you like or no diet will last.

I : I believe you are more concerned ( and frustrated) with failing to lose weight than you are by the scale moves up and down by several pounds. You would not be upset, i would guess if the scale kept showing lower numbers with your effort. Weight loss is difficult. If you are not losing then you are taking in and burning up around the same amount of calories. Multiple steps are needed to make progress. I suggest you consider tracking calories and activity using an online site or joining a program such as weight watchers. Fluid shifts can explain changes in weight during the day. By the way, most experts do not recommend reducing meat intake to reduce kidney stone recurrence. An analysis of your urine from a 24 hours collection usually guides changes in diet, and need for medication. If you have uric acid stones, you may have an acid urine or might excrete too much uric acid. The treatment is usually medication which works better than restricting meat intake.

Possibly: The back pain with kidney stones is in the gland region which is mid back. Lower back pain in usually musculoskeletal and maybe helped by diet and exercise. Once the stones are removed, it may be easier to sort it out. All the best.

Kidney Stones : Blocking of the ureter by a stone, even temporarily, causes colic. This brings on pain in most, but, can also produce nausea and vomiting. If you do not have a full effect of vomiting from the stone, you may experience it's symptoms as a loss of appetite with some subsequent weight loss. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids to help it pass. Some sugar in your drink may help with weight loss.

Topiramate : Has been associated with calcium phosphate kidney stones because the drug makes urine alkaline.  The amounts of topiramate in Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) for weight loss are much smaller than the amounts used for seizures or migraines.
