hello. i'm using licorice root powder in cakes these days. i saw its side effects and benefits on the internet. is using it in foods, cakes or tea still helpful or dangerous ? should i eat it directly for its benefits? how can i use it effectively?

: Licorice is used as an anti inflammatory product . Many compounds sold as licorice do not have any and only its smell. Dugs including health products should be taken for specific indication. If you are healthy and eat healthy food you should not take and do not need so called health foods

Causes hypertension: I do not know what dgl means but licorine contains a substance that can raise blood pressure if one consumes licorice in larger amounts.

Beetroots: 1/2 cup of beetroots contains 37 calories and 1.7 grams of fiber. May loose the fiber when it is juiced. It contains folate, (folic acid) Iron, vitamin C &amp; antioxidants. Studies show it can be beneficial in lowering blood pressure  (through nitric oxide) &amp;  ^'ing stamina. Potential side effects - it may turn stool  &amp; /or urine red. Beets have high oxalate concentration - this can impact kidney stones.

No single best: Just like there is no best single drug for anxiety, there is no single best herb. We are all unique biochemically and a drug or herb that might work great for one person may not help another at all. Of the 3 you mention kava causes the most side effects. You can try passion flower ; valerian to see which works better for you, but holy basil (tulsi), rhodiola and l-theanine are also worth trying.

Valerian: Hi, the side effects include headache, irritability and sluggishness in the morning for some people, have you tried sleep hygiene, like: No TV in bedroom, no book in the bed, use bedroom just for sex and sleep, leave the bed if you don't fall asleep after 15-30 min, try to watch a calming movie, reading a relaxing book, have a cup of warm milk, do not exercise late at night, etc.

Probably not: Probably not the cause of your mental condition. OK to use at same time as topical minoxidil. Known as a TNF inhibitor and used for prostate enlargement, though the real world effects are mostly placebo. Save your money and discard the nettle root. See a physician for your mental changes. Do you sleep well? Are you depressed? Are you worried?

ive been using valsartan for hypertension reasons but had to stop because it causes me epididymitis, now i use  atorvastatin and its giving me vivid dreams. is there anything better i can use with less side effects ?

I remember and a patient who had 20 medications on her allergy list, but when you continue to ask her details about the side effects you come to realize she did not want any medication because she believed that all medication is bad for her.
