SIDE EFFECTS: You could start with 5 mg but 10 is recommended. Don't look up all the side effects - you most probably wont get the most terrible ones, and the mild ones aren't much. If you do find a new development ask your dr about it. You may have to increase dosage until you feel better. Be a bit more trusting.

Lexapro (escitalopram) has FDA: Indications for generalized anxiety disorder ; major depressive disorder. It is an excellent medication but there are also other ssri's that are very effective in treating anxiety. See you already take xanax (alprazolam). It works very differently than taking a benzodiazapine.

AM/PM: Check with your doctor to see if taking Lexapro (escitalopram) in the morning and Remeron at night would be consistent with your treatment plan. Remeron often is prescribed in low doses to help with sleep, and, of the two, may be the better medication to take at night.

Ween off of lexapro (escitalopram): The best way is  gradually wean off  on a weekly basis, so  don't have a withdraw type of reaction.
Usually when weaning off this medicine, many patients will be placed on another  SSRI initially at low dose.
Some patients who have adverse effect from Lexapro (escitalopram) might have to stop it or quit the medicine quickly, and  hopefully no reaction occurs.
Lexapro (escitalopram)  is for depression +/or OCD, so be careful.

W/ the Dr's help!: It's  always best to have the Dr monitor the taper - these drugs can be dangerous to various body systems as you come off. It's a slow one too. Down 2.5mg per week is consider a quick schedule! Faster would be foolish. Work w/ a Dr. Best wishes!

Timing varies: Most people take Lexapro (escitalopram) in the morning, following their first food of the day.  But the timing has nothing to do with its effectiveness, only with minimizing side-effects.  New users may have initial side-effects that diminish after the 1st week or two.  Diazepam can also cause grogginess. 10mg of Lexapro is the usual dose for adults.  Ask your prescriber if grogginess persists.

Very slow withdrawal: Go to Lexapro (escitalopram) 10 mg q 5 days; then 10 mg every other day for 10days; then stop.
