what to do about nerve damage to the medial plantar nerve?

Not a lot of options: Medial plantar nerve damage is difficult to diagnose/treat. Surgery has mixed reviews and often can lead to worse pain. If pain is your main issue, you may want to consider neuromodulator medication like Gabapentin or Pregabalin to help decrease the pain or consider topical compounded pain creams. At home, also try alternating cold/hot baths to try to desensitization. I hope this helps!

i am experiencing  foot numbness and burning sensation. my plantar nerve was removed. should half of my big toe be numb?

Accepted Answer

Unclear: Not sure why you had either/both of your plantar nerves removed - nor any past history of relevant diseases associated with a neuropathy. The innervation of the top of the foot and the bottom are different, and the lack of plantar nerve(s) make it more complex. Please consult your doctor who can sort through all of these issues to localize the issue and additional tests to define it better.

Perhaps you : Have an entrapped nerve? Sometimes itching can be close to numbness or tingling.....Is their a rash? Any skin discoloration? Peeling skin?

The nerves: That control the muscles on the bottom of your feet have something wrong with them at locations at your ankle and below on both legs

Highly unlikely: Warts do hurt, so pain can be caused by a wart and if under a weight bearing surface this can be increased.

Accepted Answer

No: Plantar warts do not need to get on the "nerve of the toe" to make it excruciating to walk. Plantar warts are painful enough and should be treated with debridement to help relieve pain.  There are many advanced treatments for plantar warts if debridement does not help.

my wife's foot hurts worse after cortisone shot for plantar fascitis. is it possible to damage a nerve during an injection?

Very common problem.: I give cortisone shots on a daily basis for plantar fascitiis.  However, i always tell my patients that the first 1-2 days they will have more pain than before then it will start to feel better after that. neurologist said nerves fine, "burning feet is probably faciitis or fat pad in feet" huh? i do not have plantar faciitis. what do i do know?

See FP or IM: you are describing peripheral neuropathy. Have your PCP check you for diabetes and circulatory issues.

i have chronic plantar fasciitis & metatarsalgia for 2 years, got worse 6 mo ago. normal x-ray & nerve test. would mri be useful at this point?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: Plantar fasciitis can be chronic and very difficult to get rid of with conservative care in some cases.  There area  lot of treatments including orthotics, physical therapy, laser therapy, ultrasound therapy, dry needle therapy, platelet rich plasma injection, night splint, walking boot, non weight bearing and many others.  Surgery is also very successful if all of these fail.
