That's what happens: When we exercise less, our muscles get smaller and weaker. When we continue eating more calories than we use up each day, the extra is stored as fat (awaiting the day we have a famine and need to use the stored fat). That's how nature works. To reverse this, one can just eat or drink FEWER calories than is being used each day, and resume exercising.

Lose it everywhere: You cannot just lose weight in selected areas. You have to lose weight all over your whole body in order to reduce the areas that you are interested in. Sorry, but there is no such thing as spot weight loss.  It's all or nothing; but, that's not such a bad thing either -- just takes longer...

Diet and muscle mass: To gain weight you have to consume more calories than you are burning. Do this in a healthy way though. Don't choose junk or fast food, unless it's only occasional. Keep a well balanced diet and make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need. Don't cut out exercise as it is very good for you. Weight lifting and other muscle building exercises can help you increase your body mass.

Consult with your dr: ; a nutritionist. That are high in calories. Eat 6 meals /day. Work on strength training to build large muscle groups.  Work out w heavier weights w fewer repetitions.  Sleep at least 8 to 9 hrs/night. Hydrate well w water. Foods to help w healthy weight gain: almonds, cashews, pecans, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, walnuts, hummus,  avocadoes, granola, trail mix, dried fruits, extra virgin olive &gt;.

Seek help: If you feel that your body is changing you should seek care from your provider. You could be losing muscle mass due to a lack of conditioning or proper exercise, causing your arms and legs to look smaller. Any unusual weight loss should certainly be evaulated by your provider.

LIkely 2 levels answ: First, working out will increase some muscle mass and metabolic demands.  Stopping working out will still allow those larger muscles to consume more calories.  Second, eventually working out stopping will cause muscle loss and secondary weight loss.

Unusual symptoms : Its worth going to see a rheumatologist or family doctor. Your sx sound muscular/neurological/inflammatory  and not your typical OA related joint pain. There are conditions such as Myasthenia Gravis  that can cause weakness of upper and lower extremities. Your Dysautonomia can also cause fatigue. Just to be safe I would get it checked out.
