Numb Sitting On Leg: Hello. Cycling is not the issue since you don't sit on your leg while cycling. Most likely what you are feeling after you have sat on your lower leg is a result of positional compression to your peroneal nerves (superficial and deep ones).  Once you get up off of your leg, you should be noticing return of normal sensation (after the prickly tingling stuff passes.). It's very common.

why does my leg still feel a ripping sensation and severe pain/numbness after 9 mos of waiting for a supposed pinched nerve to heal? standings awful!

Radiculopathy: See your doctor....Doesn't sound like your nerve "healed."  you may need updated testing and possibly more definitive treatment.

It depends on why: You had the surgery. Call your surgeon and let him know. He may want to see you in the office.

Accepted Answer

Maybe normal : Spinal surgery like laminectomy is done to remove pressure on nerves or the spinal cord.  If the nerves are damaged sometimes the symptoms resolve and sometimes not.  It can take a long time to know for sure.  You should follow up with your surgeon if you have questions.

i still have some numbness and leg weakness two months post back fusion. is it permanent?

Hard to tell: Depending on the severity of compressing and duration of the symptoms, you could have permanent risidual numbness, but only time will tell. Nerves heal at a very slow rate and sometimes incompletely. You still may have some recovery with regard to sensation, but you'll have to wait and see what you get back.

my legs feel numb on the inside but i can still feel perfectly fine if i touch the outside. recent extensive testing showed nothing abnormal?

Numbness: this may have been caused by a contusion to a superficial nerve and should gradually disappear

in feb had a lumber microsurgery. my left side of my leg is still numbness. is there any thing i can do. i had this before i had the operation.

Responses vary: After surgery for a herniated disk, numbness takes longer to recover than pain.  Depending on how long you had your symptoms before surgery, it can take a really long time or the damage may never fully recover.  However, you should talk to your surgeon about it.  They may be worried enough to get another MRI to look for residual herniated disk or repeat herniation.

OCPs: The likelihood of your leg numbness occurring from one dose of orthocyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) is very low. If symptoms persist speak to your doctor and perhaps they will alter the means of contraception to another method.

Numb leg: There is no association between having sex and numbness in the leg.  It is possible that you have some underlying nerve impingement in your back and that the position you assume during sex may aggravate this.  You should have this checked out.  You should change your position during sex.

if i had spine surgery 3 years ago  and my leg and back still feel numb .what could be  still the problem?

Numbness in leg/back: Unfortunately one has to consider nerve damage either from original problem or as result of surgery.  Did you have numbness prior to surgery? At three years it is likely permanent if no further impingement on nerve is seen.
