5 days ago i had angioplasty with stenting in leg. now i am having pain in the upper part of my leg. is that normal?

Pain after stent.: Is that area tender?  Is there swelling?  With this finding, you may want to follow-up with the vascular doctor who performed the procedure.

Accepted Answer

No: Stents don't cause disease, but they can fail. They fail either because of scarring, clotting or progression of disease (atherosclerosis). Whenever stents are placed they should monitored on a regular basis in order to intervene before any of the above occur.

how is a heart stent implanted?  do they go in through your leg?

Accepted Answer

Stent: Coronary stent placement is done percutaneously (i.e. Through a small puncture in the groin or wrist) via an artery, and deploys a small tube/ mesh (the stent) in the blood vessels of the heart, in order to open up a blockage and keep that area open. It stays in your body indefinitely. Some stents are uncoated (bare metal), some are coated with medications in order to prevent further blockage.

i had angioplasty stent in left leg in feb 2021and having severe pain in my side right above where it was placed. could this be a failed stent? hurts to sit, cough etc?

: Clotted or failed stent should cause the symptoms of vascular insufficiency such as foot pain, change in skin color, etc. exactly the symptoms you had suffered before the angioplasty was done. Your symptoms seem not consistent with the leg ischemia but I think you are sick enough to see your family doctor.

i am taking eliquis  and i had to have a stent in my leg and am now on clopidogrel as well.  is it necessary to take both.  i really bleed easily.

Eliquis: If you're taking Eliquis for atrial fibrillation and now have had a stent placed, you do need both as they work by different mechanisms and are used for different indications. You are entirely justified to be worried about bleeding and should pray that doesn't happen as you would have to stop 1 or both which would increase your risk of a clotting complication. Good luck!

is angio/bypass and stenting effective for pad.my dads left leg circulation is bad 3 or 4 out of 10.is it ok to get angio/bypass as he has sugar.

Yes: Both work well for patients who are in danger of losing their leg. Angioplasty is better for short occlusions , bypass with vein better for more extensive disease. THese procedures are performed in diabetics with good results. Find a person who can offer both options  since the choice depends on the clinical picture and should not be restricted by what the surgeon or angiographer can do

circulation on left leg for dad came bad 3 to 4 out of 10..would he need angio or bypass.would he need stent to be put at this range.is it effective?

my husband had a stent placed in each leg 2 days ago. his doctor did not advise him about sexual activity. what we do is not rigorous at all. i am wondering how long we should wait? what is a typical time frame?

: He can have sex when he feels ready for it. If he is taking a blood thinner, anticoagulant, it would be more reason to be gentle in your activities.

after 4 mounths post op stent placement in right thigh and ballon in left, i have a good pulse in left and none to very week in right with sorness and weakness starting again in both upper parts of legs??

: You probably had the procedures done for the external iliac arteries. If the current symptoms are almost the same before the procedures, the arteries are likely re-stenosed, i.e. failed intervention, so you need to see the interventional cardiologist or vascular surgeon who did the procedures. i have kidney stones there's a stent in me can i go in the hot tub it has saltwater epsom salt jacuzzi for my spasms in my legs?

Go ahead: There does not seem to be any reason to stay away from a hot tub, because you have a ureteral stent.
Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless, to facilitate the passage of stone and to prevent the formation of new stones.
