: It is worth getting seen and getting an xray of the right ankle.  It could be some arthritis or other cartilage injury.

i have had 5 stress fractures in my leg/ankle the past 2 years. is there anything doctors can do surgically for this leg so can take impact?

Cause: You have not mentioned your age and other medical conditions and medications. Important thing is to find out the cause of your weak bones.  The important causes include metabolic, hormonal causes and adverse effects of meds.  The treatment of underlying cause is crucial. Make sure to discuss this with your internist, so that this aspect of your problem is not missed amidst surgical treatment.

Activity: Unfortunately, injured ankles will continue to swell for months after injuries. The longevity of edema correlates with the severity of your injury.

what causes your inside ankle to have burning and tingling sensation that travels to foot and extreme lower front part of leg? also swelling when up on feet very long? i have injured it a couple of times before, rolled it 1st time and fractured 2nd

: Those with deformation of the distal medial tibia and or pes planus sometimes develop posterior tibial neuropathy at the level of the ankle/foot with symptoms much as you describe.  Dr. R.

can you tell me when can i walk again after an ankle/leg fracture?

On average 6-8 weeks: Bone healing usually takes 6-8 weeks depending on the type of fracture.  Each person has a different healing potential depending on age and overall health.  An x-ray may be needed to be taken to see if you fracture is healed enough for you to be able to bear weight on it.  Have it evaluated.

i had a compound fracture on my leg right above my ankle 4 months ago. i haven't been to physio yet and its still a bit stiff. is it still fixable?

Hypersensitivity: It is possible that the cut disturbed some nerves and while they are healing, they are hypersensitive. While there are separate nerves for pressure, pain and temperature, while hypersensitive, some temperature fluctuations may be felt as pain, as will pressure. Keeping the area covered with a bandage may reduce the sensations and allow you to function without pain.

hello i took my full leg cast of 5 days ago ( due to a hairline fracture in my tibia) i have been walking with a limp and saw my ankle got swollen ?

PT may be in order: Physical therapy can address the gait issue with limping as this is likely related to muscle weakness.In addtion they can do soft tissue massage to alleviate the ankle swelling. This can occur when muscles are weak and do not provide enough pumping action to return blood to the heart.Check in w/your Orthopedist or Sports MD to get a prescription &amp;/or agreement on next steps to get your gait normal

my mother fractured her ankle.when she sleeps she gets tired sleeping facing up, can she turn on her side while her leg is immobilized?or is it risky?

Not risky: No, that would not be risky.  She could lay in her back, side, or stomach and as long as it is properly immobilized that would not cause a problem.  Ideally having it higher than level of heart can help reduce swelling.

i suffered from a tibial plateau fracture 18 months ago, had the hardware removed.  my leg is crooked and causes ankle pain, what can i do for relief?

PT and Bracing: Unfortunately the injury you have sustained is very deforming and hard to recover from. I would recommend physical therapy and possible bracing. Now a days the braces are really thin and not noticeable.  They can really help.
