See your physician: You may have developed pelvic inflammatory disease from extended tampon use.  There is a life threatening complication from having a tampon in for too long called toxic shock syndrome.  You need to see your gynecologist or PCP ASAP.

Probably not: Tampons are a leading cause of toxic shock syndrome in females if left in for a long period of time. If you have no foul discharge or smell and are not currently running a fever or feeling sick you are likely to be ok. If you have any symptoms dee a doctor asap.

If bleeding, yes: If you are on your period then yes, please use the tampon. If you are using the tampon for other reasons, then wait until your treatment course is over.

Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Tampon removal: Tampons are prime sources of potential infection, if not removed over time, but "nine hours" is usually not a concern.  The bacteria which are always present in the vaginal canal can eventually generate "toxins" which can be serious, so keep extras with you when having your period, and change them every few hours, depending on flow.

Fever: Just remove the old tampon and throw it away.If you are only symptom is mild cramp it is likely that you are ok.  If you begin to have fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash or mental confusion then seek evaluation.
