Very low risk: Toxic shock syndrome is quite rare. It can be caused by any group A strep infections from cuts, burns or skin injury. Tampons sold in the US no longer are manufactured with materials that once increased the risk of TSS in super absorbent tampons. Based on what you describe it appears you are ok.
