Size is relative: As with all things in life, size is relative. Whether a thing is big or small depends on what it is, what it's doing there, whether it's growing or shrinking, whether it's getting in the way of something else, etc... One's primary care doctor who knows the whole story, can best help figure things out. Details matter! For a nodule in the body, 1.9mm may be small whereas 1.9cm may be big.

Depends: It depends on the individual but nodules < 1.0 cm are usually asymptomatic.  Nodules > 2 cm could cause problem.  You should see your physician for an examination to confirm what you are feeling.  Nodules > 1 cm might need evaluation and possibly biopsy depending on what it looks like on the ultrasound. i have had them for over 4 years but they were not painful and they were not as big,

i had a mastoidectomy and now where a drain tube was is a large nodule.?

ENT Dr. can re-check: A person who had a drainage tube after surgery, and now with the tube gone, has a lump at the hole where the drainage tube had come through, might have some scar tissue forming at that site, some material trying to get out (but stuck inside the skin because the drainage tube is gone, and the skin sealed up), or some other problem. A return visit to the ENT surgeon can figure out the problem.

what does 2 centimeter hypoechoic/cystic nodules with internal echogenicity in the midpole of the left lobe. larger module meaures 7mm?

It would be better: If you said where these findings were. It almost sounds like the thyroid. If so cysts in the thyroid may be colloid cysts and they look like cysts with internal echoes or old blood etc. therefore please specify where you have these findings

my fna on isthmus 2.7 cm nodule came bk atypical..the folliculior cells are benign looking like a cystic process...big goiter can i have it out...

Get it removed: Any atypical cells in the fna biopsy raises the possibility of cancer in the thyroid gland. That means the need for surgical excision of the tumor/thyroid gland. You should seek an opinion from an endocrinologist asap.

Nodule: Hypoechoic generally means that the lesion is more likely to be cystic (contains fluid), however, increased vascularity is concerning. depending on the history, location and presence of other symptoms fine needle aspiration for cytological analysis or a biopsy should be considered. Watch for alternative points of view from other physicians
