Depends on cause: Fist two aspects to recovery: 1) trauma with associated injuries 2) solely spleen issue

trauma = more time

second two aspects: 1) minimally invasive surgery 2) large incision

large incision = more time

simple case is a few days
complicated case can be several weeks

if no surgery to remove the spleen then may be several months until activity is real ease to normal.

recovery stage of mono. my blood looks good & my spleen doesn't seem to be enlarged. when can i start lifting? can it become enlarged in acute stage?

Wait: The spleen is usually enlarged with infectious mononucleosis (barr epstein virus infection).
The spleen can rupture if there is trauma to the spleen when it is enlarged.  Lifting of course depends on the weight of what you lift.  Give your body time to heal and the spleen to return normal size and this may take 3 months.

i am having my spleen removed with a cyst. dr says he is trying lapro but i will have a 4 inch incisions to pull it out. how long will my recovery ?

Splenectomy: You really should discuss this with the surgeon....Make sure you are not the first patient he/she will be doing the procedure on. Additionally, laproscopic procedures tend to have faster recovery times, but once again, you must discuss this with the surgeon.

i had a severe and short (less than 1 sec) pain right on spleen. it is the second time it happens and the pain is very severe. i'm getting worried?

Abdominal Pain: Hi there, thanks for writing in! When you have severe abdominal pain, it's usually best to be seen by a doctor in person. Abdominal pain, especially when it's sharp and as painful as you describe, could be a sign of something very serious. If it occurs again, I recommend going to the doctor as soon as possible, either your PCP, an urgent care, or the emergency room.

hi i tore my spleen it bled for a short time but only minor it had stopped hurting fully after 2/3 weeks but has started hurting a bit after 6 weeks?

Splenic rupture: It's possible that resuming normal physical activities reinjured splenic tissues and there would be concern about some bleeding into the spleen. I recommend an evaluation by an abdominal surgeon as soon as possible to be on the safe side. In the meantime avoid strenuous activity.

how long a spleen pain lasts at a time? is there any medication b4 start the pain? she is 2 years with beta thalassemia intermedia. hbn is 8.6 now.

try Ibuprofen: I am assuming that her splenic pain is due to splenic sequestration. Blood may suddenly pool in the spleen. It  causes splenic capsule to stretch out causing pain, but also causing her hemoglobin to drop, and may make her very sick. Mild splenic sequestration is tolerable, and for that, one could give Ibuprofen or acetaminophen, but for severe pain, i would recommend a visit to an emergency room.

Quickly, usually: If that is the only organ injured and the determination is that it must be removed, it takes about 1/2 hour to remove it in a normal sized person. In the seriously obese, it may take longer. The presence of other abdominal injuries changes the ball game entirely.

It is worth having: this evaluated to rule out any problems with pancreas, colon,stomach or spleen. Be aware that binge eating can cause abdominal distention combined with abdominal pain.

ER or urgent care: It looks like you have a history of appendicitis and ovarian cysts. Pain from the diaphragm can radiate to the shoulder. It could be your spleen. It could also be ovarian torsion. Please see a physician or go to the ER if the pain is severe and or you feel lightheaded or short of breath at rest. From your medical history, you are familiar with significant pain states.
