ive been diagnosed with cervical radiculopathy and degenerative disc desication for my l4, l5, c3-c4, i've noticed that my left ear hurts & my throat feels tight everyday, is there any chance that these 2 conditions is connected with d spine problem?

Likely not: The nerves supplying your ear &amp; throat originate much higher up the spinal cord. They are likely a totally separate issue.

: Your doctor will order a biopsy to determine if you have a cancerous tumor. The results will be known to you, so hope for the best. Early detection and treatment results in a better outcome.

: Auto accident, lifting, getting beaten up or kicked, being hit with a bat or wrench or skillet.  Bike accident, running accident to mention a few causes. Could give better answer if we could do telemed.

is a bulged disk in the l4/l5 spine the same as a ruptured disk ?

No: An intervertebral disc is like a jelly donut.  It is a tough outer shell with a jelly-like material inside.  A bulging disc is when part of the disc pushes out into the space where the spinal cord runs or where the nerves leave the spinal cord.  The jelly stays inside the donut.  In a herniation the jelly is squeezed out of the donut.  The jelly-like material is irritating and can cause pain.

i have back pain and a injury to l2, l3, l4 l5 on my spine. what kind of exercise is safe for me to do?

Accepted Answer

Depends on the injur: It depends on the severity of the injury.  I generally recommend you avoid exercises that increase loading to your spine or impact activities.  Thus, biking or elliptical machines or swimming are better than running.  Also, no heavy weight lifting that loads your back such as squats.

can a 31 year old male go back to work  when he fractured l3 fused l4 l5 spine work normal movement and ?

Hopefully: After healing, the bone should get back to normal strength. Recovery from a spine fracture and back surgery depends on the degree of injury, your own healing process, determination in rehabilitation, luck, and what type of work and activity you are trying to get back to!! I have patients who have returned to full normal activity in physically demanding jobs, but others were not able to. Good luck!

Blood supply...: This seems to be more of a description of 'poor circulation' than of a nerve root problem. Have you lost the natural hair on your legs? This can be another sign. If smoking, stop. Seek help early.

Maybe : An elliptical would be better than running, but no one can predict if it would "alleviate the issue."

Ask doctor: By all means ask the doctor caring for you. In consideration are what your job involves and how well healed you are and what physical limitations this has left you with.

Accepted Answer

Spine degeneration: You may already know this, but degeneration simply refers to aging changes in the spine which occur in all of us - disc narrowing and dessication, spinal joint arthritis, bone spurs, etc.  The significance of narrowed foramina (also caused by aging changes) is that nerves can get pinched in the area of narrowing, and pinched nerves can result in leg pain.  Talk to your doc about treatment options.
