i have severe pain in my right inner thigh (groin) and right foot (inside of foot, between heel and ankle) when i jog. rested 3 weeks, still same. i had fusion in l4 and l5 in 2004 and have scoliosis.  i do not want to stop jogging or live on meds.

herniated:l3-l4&l4-l5 w. 3cm cyst beneath near end of sacrum. so much pain i can't walk, outer thigh&leg&foot are all numb and very cold to touch. how can i not make it worse before seeing neurosurgeon in 1 wk? can i make it worse? i'm just scared..?

: Treatment for herniated intervertebral discs become especially urgent when muscle weakness develops. At this time you have severe pain for which a neurosurgeon may end up recommending referral to a pain management specialist as well as physical therapy. If this fails, surgery may then be recommended. Will your physician prescribe more potent pain relievers until you're seen by the neurosurgeon?

i have a herniated disc in l4 l5 and s1. (5yrs) i now have neurogenic atrophy. it only occurred after i had a walking cast on for 10 weeks. (torn anterior ligament rt foot) did isolating my leg in the cast trigger the atrophy? it's been going on for 7 mon

Atropy: A herniated disc at the levels l4-5 and L5-s1 can produce atropy in the muscles that those nerves supply.  Typically in the anterior compartment of the lower leg and small muscles in the feet.
10 weeks of immobilization is quite a long time and was probably a factor in the atropy.

experiencing pain and tingling  in left leg/foot. mri shows herniated disc l4 l5 with l5 nerve impingement but emg was normal. get a 2nd emg?

Physical therapy: In a case where there are symptoms of nerve impingement, and some tests show it (MRI) and others don't (EMG), this may reflect the positional and postural nature of the way our spinal cord and nerve roots move in our body.  Rather than get more testing, consider physical therapy. If several weeks of PT had no benefit, then follow-up in person with a neurologist, physiatrist, or neurosurgeon.

See details: That is a minimal bulge and is likely not the source of your symptoms. See a neurologist and have the issue evaluated.

: Actually, there is not enough information from this question to give a confident answer.  There would need to be correlation of the findings to the location that you are having numbness in the leg and foot.  Oftentimes impingement on the thecal sac is meaningless unless it is concomitantly impinging on the corresponding nerve.  That nerve would then have to travel to the location of the numb leg.

how can i reduce pain in leg, calf and foot due to osteoarthritis  in l2, l3,  l4 and l5 vertebrae ?

Radiculopathy: It depends on how severe is the arthritis. In earlier stages physical therapy can help. Sometimes epidural steroid injections may give short term benefit.

hello, i'm 44. i get burning and sometimes stinging pains in my right groin area. it feels like it comes from my right testicle. but when it's bad it goes into my right leg and foot, appendix area and lower back. had 2 l4 l5 disectomies ,08 and '11?

Groin pain: This may be burning/neuropathic pain related to the back. The pain can be radiating from the back around to the front of the groin, abdomen, leg and testicle. You should however, have an exam of the testicle to make sure there is nothing concerning there nd then work up of back thereafter.

: It means your back pain and radiculopathic symptoms (leg pain and numbness) are caused by L4-5 herniated disc. Please follow with your doctor for further advice on treatment plan. Most of these cases are managed conservatively with success, without need of invasive intervention.
