Elmslie-trillat: This procedure is usually used for patients that have patella dislocations. The patella tendon insertion on the tibia bone is shifted in a medial direction to better align the patella tracking.

can you tell me is it bad that the knee isn't in the same alignment as it was before the sprain?

Yes: That will result in more wear and tear on the knee over time.  Suggest seeing the orthopedic doctor, it maybe as easy as just getting therapy to strengthen the knee or taping the knee as well to help keep it in alignment.

Depends: It would not be normal for the knee to be in different alignment but then my question is - who is judging the alignment?  Sometimes the alignment may look off, but an orthopedist may find (esp with x-rays) that the appearance is deceiving and the alignment is actually fine.  See your physician if your concerns persist.

vague: So not sure where this question is coming from...However alignment in knee replacement has stayed fairly constant over time.  Goal of the knee replacement is to provide a stable knee, a knee that recreates the anatomic joint line, and of course is technically straight so that the load is shared equally.  Most of what has changed in this surgery deals with the prosthetic designs.

Genu valgum: High tibial osteotomies are used in the treatment for "knock knees" which is known as Genu Valgum. These surgeries are only indicated in a younger patient with early knee osteoarthritis and not indicated for cosmetic purposes. There are always risks and benefits with any surgery. The risks associated with this type of surgery would outweight any cosmetic benefit. Discuss with your orthopaedic doc.

Groin pain: Need more information.  However what you have reported does not seem serious at all.

Knock Knees: Genu Valgum (Knock Knees) is not something that necessarily requires surgery.  In fact, there are several different levels the problem may be coming from (Hip, Knees, Ankles).  This problem may not require surgery and may even be corrected by something as simple as orthotic use in your shoes.  There is a high risk for this type of surgery, and a thorough evaluation is necessary prior to surgery.

im 30, with 21 degrees off alignment knee, what are my options other than osteotomy and full knee replacement , surgery is ok what options are there?

That's all: That  is a very large deformity. Total knee and osteotomy are the only surgical options to correct your deformity.

i am having pain in my left outside hip.  it sometimes radiates down to my knee.  it is causing me to limp now.  i was going to a chiropractor and he said it was cause by my right side being out of alignment.  iit got a bit better but now is worse.
