what is the best way to reduce knee inflammation?

Knee inflammation: Usually best initially with ice, rest, elevation, perhaps mild compression. Later, some moist heat can help, as well as nsaids and laser therapy/modalities.

wife fractured her right patella 6 months ago. had her hardware removed end of february. pt twice a week. has knee inflammation  always. what can help?

A cortisone: injection may be helpful as well as NSAIDS (Non cortisone anti-inflamatory drugs)

I assume she is being followed by an Orthopedist....

what can i do to help knee inflammation?

Wrap/brace, NSAIDs: Wrap the knee in an ace wrap or slip on a knee brace (both available at most drug stores otc).  This will reduce the stress on the knee.  Then take an NSAID like Ibuprofen or Naproxen (any brand) to help with the inflammation.  If your symptoms worsen or don't get better after 4-5 days, see your doctor for evaluation.  Lastly, still use your knee for light activity.  Strict rest is not good.

i got severe knee inflammation with high white blood cells(1100 cells/mm-3) in the fluid after getting salmonella, would that be reactive arthritis?

Could be: Salmonella, shigella and several other organisms have been associated with reactive arthritis.  But make sure with that high a white count that the joint fluid is adequately cultured to rule out infection.

my mcl gets tight when bending knee. how can i stretch it out?

Diagnosis: Are we sure it is your mcl that is damaged? Is your knee swollen? That can make the joint feel stiff. Have you seen an orthopaedist? Did you have a recent injury? We need to know if you have damaged anything inside your knee like a meniscus.

diagnosed with patella femoral syndrome 6 months ago. experiencing tightness right about knee cap when fully bending knee. i've been told to stretch.

Patellofemoral pain: With your age and no history of injury and w/out any other information or a physical examination the most likely cause of your pain is your kneecap( patellofemoral). The cartilage beneath your kneecap can soften and cause pain esp. W/stair climbing , stair master , lunges, squats , or just keeping your knees bent for a period of time( sitting in an airplane, church etc).Anatomy, weight, jt. Laxity.

2 weeks after acl reconstr. i fell knee tightness when walking but not when passively bending. swelling is still there. should i be worried?

Family practice : Probably not , some swelling not unusual after surgery but let your dr know what's going on.

as no inflammation show on blood test. x-ray normal. doc send me for physio. knees tight stiff & fatigue. could i still ask for another opinion?

You may: It is always feasible to get a second opinion, however, you may wish to give the current treatment a chance to work. If in three months you are not better, it would be time to reconsider.

See a doctor: There could be many reasons for pain behind the knee and calf. First go to an er as you need to rule out a blood clot immediately. A knee popliteal cyst  or mass may also manifest itself in the back of the knee/calf. Other common causes include tendinitis, early arthritis/wear/tear, ligament injury or meniscus tear. Low back pain may also radiate to the back of the knee. See an orthopedist as well.
