There are some strains of this bacteria that are resistant to almost all antibiotics. If you had a culture done that grew this organism, then the lab should have also done sensitivities. Ask your doctor to check them.

See below: Bacteria in the urine does not warrent treatment unless you have symptoms of a uti.  If you have burning on urination, urinary urgency or frequency or fever you would warrant treatment.  Macrobid is a urinary antiseptic.  It has a lot of potentially serious side effects and i avoid using it.  It does not treat tissue invasive infection.  Keflex is usually good for kleb.   Kleb is not contageous.

Usually?: Often male UTIs are a marker of an STD, poor personal (/penile) hygiene, or a known anatomic variance that interferes with urinary flow/clearance, or diabetes with poor control (causing sugar in urine). Consider above and address which most likely fits your situation. If UTI recurs, discuss above with Dr, as more testing may be needed. As long as not resistant, trimethoprim OK for klebsiella.
