Never: Once you have herpes simplex in your body it never goes away.  Even in the absence of overt lesions there may still be viral shedding.  My bet is that if you were tested it would show that you have developed antibodies to this, showing that you were previously infected, but not everybody becomes symptomatic.

Yes: Even though he has HSV 1,  it may infect a different location.

: Yes, it is possible. However, most people have been infected with HSV-1 at your age but they do not have outbreak.

Herpes: You most likely are shedding more virus when you have an active sore and are therefore more likely to transmit the virus. The good news is that most people by reaching your age have already been infected with herpes type1 and you won't be giving them anything new. It would be best to refrain from any skin-to-skin contact with your sores until they are fully healed.

8 days ago i got kissed on the cheek a couple inches from my mouth by somebody that had a cold sore. the kiss was very small and dry. i shaved my face that morning but i didnt have any visible cuts/ irritation, could i have the virus?

So once you have: the virus, you have it, you can't get it again because you already have it. Kissing someone with a cold sore, can trigger your own outbreak though

HSV is still there: The problem with herpes - in this case HSV-1 - is that it is still present, and may be infective to someone who doesn't yet have the virus. In other words, you don't have to have the 'active volcano' of a herpes outbreak, as the virus can pass through what's called 'asymptomatic shedding'. The virus is capable of infecting through mucous membranes (lips, genitals, even the eye) or scratched skin.

How old ?: You should certainly avoid doing so at the earliest sign of a recurrence and extend that ban through the active stage until it is completely healed. Infants particularly have a great susceptibility to that virus invading and causing dreadful disease or death. Not so much for older kids with a mature immune system.

Low risk, but...: There is always a risk of catching or giving germs, viral or otherwise, when touching or being very near another person. That's the way life is. However, we humans much touch other humans. That's also the way life is. That said, cold sores are usually oral Herpes type 1, which is a virus that most people catch at some time. Many people catch it from their parents or siblings in childhood.

HSV 1 is prevalent: More than 3/4 of people have HSV 1. It is quite likely that you have the virus already. If you have had a cold sore, ever, you have HSV 1. Even if you get it, it is not a big deal for an otherwise healthy person.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.
