A member asked:

If you get cold sores yourself and kiss someone who has a cold sore, can you contract it again? or are you immune bc you already have the virus?

So once you have: the virus, you have it, you can't get it again because you already have it. Kissing someone with a cold sore, can trigger your own outbreak though

Cold sores: The sores usually last 7 to 10 days and are contagious until they crust. The virus may become active again at any time and cause recurrent cold sores.
