No: If you have calcium, cystine, or triple-phosphate stones, no. If you have uric acid stones, also no, though you may have been advised to restrict your diet to keep purine intake low. Almonds aren't loaded with purines. You can probably ignore stuff about "acid / alkaline forming foods" from kidney-stone websites; stay hydrated and comply with the rest of your rx.

STONES: It has been shown that a high ca diet in a normal person is less likely to cause kidney stones than a low ca diet and both are more likely to cause stones than a normal dietary calcium intake. It's not the calcium in it's the lack of volume and the oxalate intake.

Almonds are nuts.: There is a theory that oxylate in food- including almonds- can cause kidney stones.  It isn't clear the theory is correct.  Very often, medicine has been wrong about such diet theories.  Diet how in calcium used to cause kidney stones now we know a diet low in calcium is the problem.  Lot of water, adequate calcium, and less animal protein have more evidence for the common type of kidney stones.

Possibly: They are very high in oxalate and if you don't drink enough water to maintain a clear dilute urine it could precipitate with calcium and form calcium oxalate stones which are the most common kind.
They are good for you as part of the mediterranean diet which also includes yogurt that reduces urine acidity and chance for stone formation.

X-rays: With either a sonogram, x-ray (kub)  or ct of the abdomen  without any contrast.  The best method is a ct as it can give exact location and weather it is obstructing the kidney.  By measuring hounsfield units, we can predict its composition.  Sonograms are great and avoid radiation but it depends on expertise of sonographer.  Kub is helpful to differentiate uric acid stones. Ivps were used in past.

Variable: Some kidney stones are asymptomatic, but even then may cause blood in the urine.  If they get large enough and/or cause obstruction in the kidney or ureter (the tube that carries urine to the bladder) they usually cause sudden pain in the back, side, flank or  pelvis/genitals, which can be very intense and come in waves.  Nausea and vomiting are also often reported and frequent/painful urination.
