Healthy kidneys contain an enzyme called 1-alpha-hydroxylase that converts inactive Vitamin D into active Vitamin D.

None of the vitamins have been shown to prevent or slow down the progression of kidney disease. If you have kidney disease then you should not take over the counter multivitamins.
You can take multivitamins specially formulated  for kidney patients such as prorenal, dialyvite etc.

Nephrologist: Treatment of vit d deficiency in the presence of abnormally low vit d levels requires serial vit d levels to judge the appropriate dose and,in my opinion, the attending nephrologist is best qualified to to this. Vit d doses for vit d deficiency in patients without chronic kidney disease tend to be lower and I note that nephrologists may prescribe 1200 units as a starting dose for some patients.

Unclear benefit !!: Multivitamins are not as useful as they  are thought to be. There is no known benefit. Possible though rare harm. Cost therefore is not justified. People feel better with multivitamins due to the awakening effects of vitamins esp vitamin b, not due to a health effect. The creatinine of 1.5 mg/dl does not constitue a big problem in and of itself.Wouldnt not use vits unless rarely&if eating poorly.

: I wouldn't think so. B 12 is not stored up in the body and the excess not used in daily metabolism is passed out into the urine. Taking more than you need doesn't give you better health or metabolism, it just adds to the waste your body sheds.

Yes: But it will not likely do much to improve your health (unless you are a 100% carnivore).  Taking vit C along with iron (if you need it) helps to improve absorption. No,it will not hurt your kidney.
