?: I'm not sure of the connection between a sore throat/cold/flu and contact lenses.  If you are having red or itchy eyes, you may have either allergies or congestion involving the eyes. In that case, you may try avoiding contacts until cleared up.

Needs to be checked: It is not unusual to have pain in throat when you have cold and most of the time it goes away by itself without any treatment in a week. But since you have sore throat which hurts to swallow, we need to rule out Strep throat infection.

No: If you have a cold, you have a cold. Wearing contact lenses won't make a difference.

Common cold: Unfortunately the common cold has no cure. Despite many "remedies" which are touted to "shorten" or "cure" viral illness, it is the human body, not the human, which cures itself. Assuming you are healthy, maintain good fluid intake, rest, and do your best to avoid turning upside down.

can i take advil for my sore throat since i think i am catching a cold even though i have had a concussion for three weeks? will it cause a brain bleed or anything since i know i'm not really supposed to take motrin with my concussion.

Brain bleed?: Unfortunately, head injuries and concussions are common. Stuff just happens. Theoretically, Motrin and Advil might have a higher chance of bleeding in the first days after a concussion, compared to Tylenol. In reality, haven't heard of people bleeding after a concussion merely because they took a few Motrin or Advil. See:

Hmm: You could have an upper respiratory infection that has congestion & sore throat as sxs. Tips: sore throat – gargle with warm salt water (1/2 tsp salt in 8 oz of water). Get strep test/culture if very sore. Congestion – saline nose drops or netti pot. For anti-inflammatory effect & mobilizing mucus- homemade chicken noodle soup.  Hydrate- lots of water/clear broth/ add honey & asmall amt. Of lemon.

Soreness: Try saltwater gargles. Mix tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w Aloe Vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey &amp; a small amt of lemon juice helps.

Cold: Drink plenty of  fluids, gargle warm salt water, medications like tylenol, (acetaminophen) Ibuprofen and chloraseptic spray are helpful, get plenty of rest, if symptoms become severe or are not better in a week, see a doctor.

What to do:: For significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician &amp; get a strep throat test &amp; culture. Antibiotics are imperative for Strep Throat.
