First line therapy is usually avoidance of the trigger, and topical steroid creams .

Contact allergy: Can't say for sure - two clues. Itching (histamine-mediated which often implies allergen) and spreads with scratching (often a substance that is carried on the fingers). Poison oak, ivy and sumac are the archetypical contact allergens; there are hundreds of others. Treat with gentle soap and water wash and cleaning everything which contacts it. Antihistamines and over the counter steroids optional.

Elbow rash: May be psoriasis or eczema. Topical hydrocortisone  sometimes available over the counter  may help. If it is psoriasis you sometimes need prescription medication. May also be poison ivy or other contact dermatitis or bites less common when both elbows. F/u/ w/ MD

If it suddenly occurred overnight, it is is possible that is is due to a reaction from something in the bed like bed bugs. Try OTC antihistamines (zyrtec, allegra) to see if rash resolves. If not, please see primary care provider.
