i've had itchy eyelids for a month! what can i do?

Atopic Dermatitis: This may be atopic dermatitis.  It is seasonal and responds well to steroid ointments.  Alternatively, it may be blepharitis which responds well to lid hygiene and steroid/antibiotic ointment.  Finally, it may just be dry skin which responds well to moisturizers.  See your ophthalmologist or dermatologist for a definitive diagnosis and recommendation.

Consider possible causes…..Pillows, laundry detergent, fabric softeners, makeup, facial products and creams…
should start with warm compresses and eyelid scrubs with dilute baby shampoo or otc product like ocusoft plus.  
Should be seen by and ophthalmologist, if not improving…..

Blepharitis: Most likely this is blepharitis, chronic crusting, itching, flaking of the eyelids/lid margins.  Often this is associated with dryness, grittiness, burning and redness of the eyes.  Try using hot compresses each am and a gentle lid scrub (dilute baby shampoo or a wipe like ocusoft) to control, but if symtpoms persist an eye doctor can provide further help/treatment.

You can use a hypoallergenic cream/lotion: cetaphil or lubriderm and consider contacting your medical doctor about taking allergy pills-such as Claritin (loratadine) or allegra.
