Pinworms: are common intestinal parasites which cause rectal itching, especially at night.  Young children and their household members are at risk for pinworm infections.  The pinworms can often be seen in the rectal area during the night with a flashlight.  A stool test for ova &amp; parasites (O&amp;P) can help correctly diagnose and guide treatment of intestinal parasites.

Diabetes can: Mild elevation of blood sugar may not cause any symptoms. Diabetes, particularly if uncontrolled, definitely can cause itching. Itching can precede the development of diabetes. In later stage diabetes, itching may be one of the symptoms of  neuropathy, along with pain, numness and burning sensation.

Possible yeast: Some patients are very sensitive to carbohydrates, sugar and starch in their diets. You may have a low grade yeast infection. Try lowering or removing sugar and starch from your diet for a while to see if it makes a difference. If you still have problems, see your health care provider...

Infection?: The wound may be developing an infection. Be sure to apply antibiotic ointment twice a day. If you have worsening redness that is spreading, go into see your doctor.

Stool studies: His pediatrician should be aware so that he or she can further coordinate. Stool studies are usually needed so that treatment can be guided properly. Hand hygiene in the household becomes critical.

Diabetes   +: Your Diabetes is uncontrolled with high blood sugars which in turn allows  vulvar yeast infections to propagate. Control the Diabetes and the potential yeast infection  once treated will get better. See a GYN MD for the  labial itching  to confirm or not yeast and  see your FP or Internist to get your Diabetes under control.

A qualified yes: If you meant atopic dermatitis then the answer is unusual. If you meant contact dermatitis , then the answer is often yes.  I suspect that you might have used neosporin (or equivalent) OTC ointment on the wound site and have developed a contact allergy to one of the ingredients (neomycin). Try topical HC cream and stop the antibiotic ointment. If problem persists , see your doctor.
