Pinworms: are common intestinal parasites which cause rectal itching, especially at night. Young children and their household members are at risk for pinworm infections. The pinworms can often be seen in the rectal area during the night with a flashlight. A stool test for ova & parasites (O&P) can help correctly diagnose and guide treatment of intestinal parasites.
