Required for travelers arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission.)&amp; Rabies in some situations. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended. Don't drink

No ebola: It is highly unlikely that you have ebola. You could have malaria or another tropical infection and should consult your doctor.

Accepted Answer

Yes: You will need to be immunized against encapsulated bacteria.  The three vaccines you should get are against strep pneumonia (pneumovax), hemophilus influenza (not the flu vaccine), and neisseria meningitidis.  If your spleen was taken out electively, you should have gotten the vaccines before surgery.  You should get these at least every five years.

There is not much proof of this, but trying an organic/ macrobiotic diet may be healthier anyway. There are non-drug treatments, including relaxation techniques, meditation and other psychotherapies as well.

We : We provide patients with a page long list of medications to avoid. However, for the most point this consists of herbal supplements, blood thinning agents, nsaids, aspirin, and other drugs known to have adverse anesthetic reactions. A healthy high protein diet with multivitamin supplementation is always good. Avoidance or cessation of tobacco use for at least 1 month prior to surgery is also suggested.

Probably nothing: In the absence of pain or discomfort it is most likely an area of hyper -pigmentation. Take a picture of it and then take another in 2 weeks. If it hasn't changed its most likely ok. If it worries you see an ent.

Should be worried: Black stools usually indicate upper gastrointestinal bleeding, however Iron supplements and Pepto-Bismal can also turn stools black. **See a physician as soon as possible to test stool for blood if not taking these medications. Upper GI bleeding from a peptic ulcer or other cause can be serious if not treated.

hi i would like to ask if i'm hiv positive and i'm drinking alcohol only on special occasions but i'm taking my medication daily,will the alcohol have a negative impact on my health since i'm on medication?

Should be fine: Moderate and social alcohol intake shouldn't be a problem. Alcohol doesn't interfere significantly with anti-HIV drugs or their effectiveness, and has little effect on HIV itself. But to be sure, double check with the doctor or clinic treating you. Good luck and happy new year.

do you need to be on a special diet if you have stage three kidney disease.  and my blood pressure is fine with medication, but i am anemic.

Anemia and stage 3: You don't need to be on a special diet with stage 3 chronic kidney disease. That will depend on your phosphorus level. What you do need is medicine (esa) to increase your hemoglobin (h). It's low as your body has no erythropoietin (e) so you are anemic. Esa injections will increase h and you will feel well. Due to a larger blood mass on esa, your BP goes up and you may need more meds for your bp.
