No: In general terms wheezing is not a sign or symptom of hiv.  Respiratory symptoms that developed because of HIV is the pneumocystis pneumonia that develops and wheezing is not a part of this.

Is Wheezing HIV?: No.  There is more to the story of course. But, wheezing is a respiratory symptom of a lung infection or asthma.  Hiv infections can present with viral symptoms such as muscle aches and pains, and rashes and fevers with fatigue. But, other respiratory symptoms are generally thought not to represent a new viral or HIV infection.

: Mononucleosis or cytomegalovirus, among other viruses can cause such protracted symptoms, specifically adenopathies and unusual skin rashes. Your doc remains your best reference.

Upper airways dis: You may have an upper respiratory tract infection/inflammation which is often viral, especially if you have no high fever, or a hypersensitivity/allergic reaction. Investigate your recent interactions or exposures and act accordingly

Could be both: First stop smoking! this is an irritant to the airways and can cause a wheeze. An infection can cause inflammation to the airways which could make you wheeze.  Take advantage of the wheeze and stop smoking and see your doctor. All that wheezes is not asthma! meaning many things can also cause wheeze.

Mgt: I would suggest taking one or two puffs to control your symptoms. Typically, no more than 8 puffs in 24 hours is recommended.

Symptoms are common to many different disease and have to be viewed in context. Rarely, pneumonia can cause no symptoms, and only be seen on a cxr. Most will have some fever and cough.

Asthma: One of the causes of persistent wheezing in asthmatics is a bronchial infection. This flare up of asthmatic bronchitis requires a course of antibiotics and use of corticosteroids and bronchodilator(Advair) by inhalation and by mouth(medrol dospak). Of course your physician, allergist or pulmonologist would have to examine you in order to make a diagnosis and prescribe appropriate therapy.
