Various tumor types: The cavernous sinus is a venous sinus on both sides of the pituitary fossa, a complex area wherein the cranial nerves controlling eye movements, facial sensation/movement pass. The carotid artery also passes through this area. There are a variety of tumor types that can arise in this area ranging from benign/slow growing tumors-meningiomas  /schwannomas to metastatic cancers. Treatment varies.

can a tumor in the maxilliary sinus cavity be seen when performing an endoscopy?

No: When performing  endoscopy, the scope is passed in the nasal cavity and one can define any lesion here.  The nasal cavity is separated from maxilla, not by the septum but a party wall thru which a lesion must perforate to be accessible for biopsy.  A scan of the head will reveal a lesion in maxilla which is not a common one. To expose one needs to open anterior wall of maxilla by raising a flap.

Healthy nutrition: The typical american diet is inflammatory. Scientist are beginning to study the original human diet which consists of lean meats, fish, vegetables, nuts and berries. Called the ancestral diet, this diet is non-inflammatory and is being shown to be healthy. : Am confused as to why you underwent imaging of cavernous sinus at age 20.  Do you possess chronic sinusitis, or have you encountered facial trauma. Depends: This depends on the type of tumor and its size.  The symptoms may include double vision and facial pain.  There may also be a component of headache or pain behind the eye.

Unlikely: Unless you know the features of this tumor in sinus(?Polyp) is hard to be sure. Your ENT doctor can advise you further. If there is any anxiety about its nature, a repeat x-ray of the sinus in 3 months can be more assuring that it is likely to be benign. Cancer of the sinuses is an uncommon cancer but it does occur. Usually it will produce blood stained nasal discharge and some local(facial pain).

Sinus Xray: If the tumor was large enough, maybe, but in general, sinus xrays are not very useful to evaluate for a nasopharyngeal tumor. Direct visualization or cross sectional imaging with CT or MRI would be much better.

Could be: There is insufficient information to be more definitive. Tumors in the sinus area can extend into the skull and involve the brain. The treating doctor and radiologist should be able to provide more specific information.

Accepted Answer

Possible scarring: Pituitary adenomas are nearly always benign tumors, but can be quite locally destructive or infiltrative, making them difficult to remove from all of the nooks and crannies of the region. Radiation provides a way of controlling the growth. Cavernous sinus isn't usually affected, although rare thrombosis can be seen.
