Diagnosis!: “diagnosis” is defined as identifying the nature or cause of something. Without a diagnosis, its just a guessing game. You can use Lidocaine patch 5%;  applying the prescribed number of patches, usually only once a day for up to 12 hours or as directed by your treated doctor.
Rec see pain management or orofacial pain specialist for diagnosis and medication adjustment.

It depends: In my neurology practice I prefer to use Neurontin as Lyrica (pregabalin) has a therapeutic ceiling due to renal metabolism that limits the maximum dose especially in women. Neurontin (gabapentin) can be titrated to 800 or even 1200 mg three times a day. One can switch to one a day gabapentin (Gralise) which appears to have less sedation.

Mechanisms of action: Meds that act on calcium channels = Gabapentin and lyrica; likely no new meds with that same mechanism of action for a while. But, existing meds for neuropathy w/ different moa include Cymbalta & venlafaxine (snris), Amitriptyline and other heterocyclic antidepressants, tizanidine (alpha2 agonist), vimpat (lacosamide) (anticonvulsant), Alpha lipoic acid, and vitamin B12 + b6 + folate supplements. Take care!

No studies : Both Lyrica (pregabalin) and Neurontin are chemically very similar, and there has never been, to my knowledge, a head to head study.  Would expect both to have an identical response in epilepsy.  One problem with neurontin, will not benefit beyond 2400 mg total daily.
